| If we increase spending and quality in education, including pre K, ultimately, we will be able to reduce the funding to corrections and welfare because we will see fewer individuals in those systems. People with a good education and a good job tend to rely less on public assistance and are less likely to end up in the correctional system. Pay it forward - not backward. | |||

The question of prosecuting minors as adults would greatly depend upon the age of the minor, the nature of the crime, etc. I'm not sure what types of driving regulations the question is referring to - graduated licenses for teens: probably; other issues I'd have to review on a case-by-case basis. | |||

I support expanding unemployment benefits to cover additional individuals currently out of work - I would be more in favor of helping individuals who have been unemployed for a longer period through job placement and relocation programs to areas with higher employment in the state. I do not know enough to make an informed decision about the issue related to foreclosures - I need to do some studying. | |||

Tenure allows teachers to teach free of local politics - it is still the job of administration and the school board to review and evaluate teachers and remove those that are not effective in the classroom using appropriate means, due process and common sense. | |||

At the same time, people who are trained to carry a concealed weapon, in general, know when and where a weapon is appropriate and abide by common sense. I don't need a gun to feel safe. | |||
